The Shot Of A Lifetime - Frank Vatrano
April 26, 2015 | Hockey
As part of his internship with the UMass Media Relations department, former Minuteman Frank Vatrano is blogging and sharing his experiences and first impressions of professional hockey as a member of the Boston Bruins organization.
Last weekend we played three games starting out on Friday night vs. the Worcester Sharks. We played a solid game, but unfortunately it resulted in a loss. Saturday night we drove up to Portland, Maine, for our next contest against the Pirates. This was a game I was looking forward to because another former UMass guy, Joel Hanley, is on the Portland roster. It was nice to see him and compete against him on the ice. We lost that game by a goal another game where we did not get the bounces we needed.
On Sunday afternoon we played the Manchester Monarchs to close out the regular season. We played a complete game and got the bounces that we didn't get the previous we won by the score of 5-1. Now with the regular season over, the best part of the season starts. Playoffs are extremely emotional and exciting. As a player I think everyone loves to play in playoffs hockey games since the energy and tempo is much higher than a normal regular season game.
Everybody is playing for that trophy at the end of the road. We played our first game of a best-of-five series vs. The Hartford Wolf Pack on Wednesday. We lost 3-1 with a late empty net goal. The second game of the series was on Saturday night in Hartford. Thankfully we bounced back from that loss and got a big 2-1 win on the road to tie the series and bring it back home to Providence for game three tonight.
I look forward to sharing my playoff experiences with everyone. Go Bruins!
