AMHERST, Mass. - The Massachusetts hockey program and head coach John Micheletto have announced the signing of 5-11, 170-pound left catch goaltender Nic Renyard of Victoria, British Columbia. Renyard joins Ivan Chukarov, Kurt Keats, Austin Plevy and Joseph Widmar as the Minutemen's fifth member of the Class of 2019.

"Nic will come in and compete for time right away and certainly make our goaltending position as strong as can be heading into the 2015-16 season," said Micheletto.

As a member of the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) in 2014-15, Renyard led the league in wins (30-8-3) and save percentage (.924), while finishing fourth in goals-against average at 2.19. Following the conclusion of his stellar campaign with Okotoks, he was tabbed the AJHL Most Valuable Player, earned the league's Top Goalie award, was an All-AJHL honoree and was voted team MVP.

Renyard's five shutouts in 2014-15 set an Okotoks' franchise record, while his 2.19 goals-against average was the best in the team's history, as well.

He played 103 games of junior hockey between the Alberta Junior Hockey League and the British Columbia Hockey League and boasted goals-against averages of 2.71 or below and save percentages of .911 or higher in each of he past three seasons. In 2012-13 as a member of the Penticton Vees, Renyard shared the BCHL Wally Forslund Memorial Trophy, going to the goaltending tandem with the best combined goals-against average.

Renyard was also a two-time participant in the B.C. Best Ever Program at the U16 and U17 levels.
