AMHERST, Mass. - Massachusetts standouts Courtney Kromko and Michael Glenn have been named the Winter Scholar-Athletes for the 2014-15 academic year.
Kromko, who is a member of the women's track & field team, and Glenn, a top breaststroke performer on the men's swimming & diving team, are both seniors and will be recognized at this week's UMass Sports Luncheon. The lunch will begin at Noon and feature a full salad to dessert buffet for $14. It will be held in the Massachusetts Room of the Mullins Center on Wednesday, April 1.
Glenn has been named to every A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll list since enrolling at UMass in the fall of 2011, and was honored with a spot on the Academic All-Conference team earlier this month. The Overland Park, Kansas native has a 3.732 GPA in Biology and finished second in the 200 Breast, seventh in the 100 Breast & eighth in 400 IM at the 2015 A-10 Championship. That completed his season that saw him earn a pair of A-10 Performer of the Week plaudits in January.
Kromko, a Kinesiology major, was chosen as the 2015 Atlantic 10 Women's Track and Field Most Outstanding Field Performer after winning the long jump title (18' 10.75") and claiming silver in the triple jump (38' 6.25") at the 2015 Atlantic 10 Championship last month. The Waymart, Pa., native went on to place fourth in the long jump at the New England Championship (18' 3.75"), one of five occasions in which she placed top-five in the long jump during the 2015 season, while finishing in the top-five in the triple jump three times.
