BRONX, N.Y. - Saturday's IC4A Championship proved an excellent opportunity to give some of the younger runners from the Massachusetts men's cross country program valuable racing experience for future seasons as the Minutemen showcased their underclassmen talent at Van Cortlandt Park's 10K course amid a field of 22 teams. UMass placed 12th as a squad, led by junior John Burns in 39th.

Burns was the first Minuteman across the finish line for his first time this season as he crossed the finish line 39th out of 183 competitors at 26 minutes, 54.2 seconds. Morgan Marlow was second for the team, running 27 minutes, 12.7 seconds to take 61st. Freshman Eric Waterman was close behind at 78th with a 27-minute, 34.1-second performance.

Freshmen Mike Famiglietti and Zach Frahlich finished within a second of each other. Famiglietti was 93rd at 27:55.3 which Frahlich nabbed 94th at 27:55.8, rounding out the top-five UMass men's finishers. Sophomore Bryan Howard ran 28 minutes, 33.7 seconds to take 124th.

This race concludes the Minutemen's 2015 cross country season. Many UMass cross country runners will return for the indoor track season, slated to begin Jan. 9 with the Yale Invitational.
