Four Minutewomen To Compete In ITA Northeast Regional

Four of UMass' top players will take part in this week's ITA Northeast Regional Championship hosted by Dartmouth College from Thursday, Oct. 22 through Monday, Oct. 26. Anna Woosley and Carol Benito will begin competition on Thursday in the singles qualifying draw, while Ana Yrazusta and Ruth Crawford will play later in the week in the main draw for singles.
All four Minutewomen have qualified for the main draw in doubles with Yrazusta and Benito paired together and Crawford and Woosley representing the other duo.
Woosley earned the No. 3 seed in tomorrow's qualifying singles draw and will face Maria Tritou of Syracuse at 10 a.m. The winner will then play at 2 p.m. against the winner of the Ksenija Tihomirova (Rutgers)/Anna Elgegren (SJU) match.
Benito will take the court at 11:15 a.m. against Yelyzaveta Pletnyeva of UConn. The winner will face either Chloe Lee (Rutgers) or Allison Chuang (Dartmouth) at 2 p.m. Pletnyeva enters the draw as the fifth seed overall.
Players in the qualifying round must win two matches to advance into the main singles draw later this week.
The main draw along with doubles draw will be released on Thursday, Oct. 22.
