Rhode Island Invitational Session One Results Get Acrobat Reader

KINGSTON, R.I. - The Massachusetts women's swimming & diving team won five events and claimed a 32-point lead after the first session of the Rhode Island Invitational at Tootell Aquatics Center Friday evening.

UMass finished the night with 165 points, ahead of George Washington with 133 and Rhode Island with 120.

The Minutewomen opened the meet with a win in the 400 Medley Relay as the quartet of Dasha Egkorova, Katie Arnott, Jocelyn Yuen and Cassie Sosnovich out-touched the GW team by 8-tenths of a second.

Molly Smyth cruised to gold in the 500 Free in 5:02.27, while Allie Vitous and Jenna Diamond also scored points for the Minutewomen.

Meriza Werenski and Yuen finished first and third, respectively, in the 200 Individual Medley.

UMass scored 24 points in the 50 Free when Sosnovich was first, Hayley Masi was second and Ivy Durepo added a point for the team. That trio and Yuen finished third in the 200 Free Relay.

The Minutewomen also earned big points in the 3-meter diving when freshman Emma Roush led a top 5 sweep with Rachel Dushman, Mikhaila Eckhardt, Rhiannon Froman and Julia Jagannath.

The second day of the meet begins Saturday with a session at 10:30 a.m. Diving is set to begin at Noon, the 1000 Freestyle at 1 p.m. and the last session at 3 p.m.
