UMass Leads After One Session At The Rhode Island Invitational

Rhode Island Invitational Session One
KINGSTON, R.I. - The Massachusetts men's swimming & diving team had a strong first session in the Rhode Island Invitational at Tootell Aquatics Center Friday evening and sits in first place.
UMass scored 186 points and leads George Washington (129 points) by 57 points with two sessions remaining on Saturday.
UMass opened the swimming portion of the meet with the top two spots in the 400 Medley Relay before Oliver Wyeth claimed the 500 Free.
Owen Wright reached the wall first in the 200 Individual medley, less than 3-tenths ahead of the second-place swimmer in the closest race of the session.
The Minutemen collected the top two places in the 50 Free with Wiktor Karpinski and Brian Stiles recording faster times than a quartet of GW sprinters.
Trent Kindvall and Robert Barry dove into the top two spots in the 1-Meter diving event.
The second day of the meet begins Saturday with a session at 10:30 a.m. Diving is set to begin at Noon, the 1000 Freestyle at 1 p.m. and the last session at 3 p.m.
