Hockey East Holds Media Day In Boston

BOSTON - With the start of the college hockey season just weeks away, Hockey East held its annual Media Day event at the TD Garden in Boston on Monday. UMass head coach John Micheletto was on hand for the event and spoke with the media, while the day's announcements included the league's composite television schedule as well as the preseason coaches' poll.
In addition to the Tuesday, Nov. 25, contest at Vermont that will air on NESN, and the Saturday, Jan. 17, game at New Hampshire that will be televised nationally, UMass will play two more televised games. The Minutemen's game at Maine on Saturday, Nov. 1, will be carried by Fox College Sports and WVII/WFVX in Bangor, Maine and UMass' game at Providence on Saturday, Feb. 20, will air on Cox Sports in Providence.
Providence was picked as the preseason favorite in the poll, while UMass was selected 11th. The Minutemen will be in action on Saturday, Oct. 4, with an exhibition matchup against Dalhousie, slated for 7 p.m. in the Mullins Center. UMass will host its season opener the following Friday, Oct. 10. Vs. Boston University at 7 p.m.
