Q: What number are you going to be wearing at UMass and why did you choose that number?
A: "I'm wearing number 23 and I chose it because 22 was taken."
Q: What made you choose UMass?
A: "I just like the atmosphere. I like that it's an up and coming program that is bringing young talent and guys that want to win, and build the program and make a name for themselves."
Q: What specifically did you like about the coaching staff?
A: "I like that they're easy to talk to. If you need them or need them to explain something, they're willing and have the patience."
Q: Tell us about where you are from.
A: "It's a small hometown. I would say it's similar to the size of UMass. It's interesting, in that fashion, that the school is the size of my hometown."
Q: Take us through your hockey background, some of the places you played.
A: "The last three years I've played in Brooks, Alberta for the Bandits. It's been probably the best three years of Junior that I've ever played. We won a national championship and a junior championship, so it was pretty special."
Q: Describe yourself as a hockey player.
A: "I'm an offensive defenseman with a bomb from the point."
Q: Is there a specific NHL player that you model game after?
A: I'd like to say I play like Drew Doughty, but I think people would disagree. He's the guy I would aspire to play like."
Q: What's it like coming to college with someone you played juniors with (Patrick Lee)?
A: "It's great, I think it makes it an easier transition. You know somebody and go through the same ups and downs."
Q: What's your best talent outside of hockey?
A: "I'm a good cook. I'll cook anything. I like cooking for the boys. I like to cook steak, potatoes, and homemade salad."
