EUGENE, Ore. - Rising sophomore Heather MacLean of the UMass women's track & field program wrapped up her weekend at the USA Track & Field Junior Outdoor Championships on Sunday at Hayward Field on the campus of the University of Oregon, competing in the final of the 800 meter run.

The Peabody, Mass., native finished sixth in the event with a time of 2-minutes, 8.98-seconds after qualifying with a school record performance on Saturday. In the preliminaries, MacLean finished first in her heat and logged the second-fastest time overall at 2-minutes, 7.21-seconds, which broke her own UMass record of 2-minutes, 7.41-seconds, set at the 2014 New England Outdoor Championship.

The 2014 USATF Junior Outdoor Championships features many of the nation's best athletes under the age of 20, including high school standouts and the nation's most promising college freshmen. The meet serves as a qualifier for the 2014 IAAF World Junior Championships, which will be held in Eugene, Ore., from July 22-27.
