• UMass takes to the road for the final time this season as the Minutemen head to Akron for a Tuesday night showdown at InfoCision Stadium. The Minutemen enter the game riding momentum after winning three of their last four games, while Akron has lost four straight games after last Tuesday’s loss at Buffalo. This will be the third time the two teams have met with the road team winning the previous two match-ups. • The UMass Sports Network will feature Voice of the Minutemen Josh Maurer handling play-by-play duties alongside analyst Matt Goldstein, and sideline reporter Adam Giardino. The game can be heard live starting at 6:40 PM (ET) on 105.5 FM WEEI (Springfield), 1440 AM WVEI (Worcester), and 1200 AM WXKS (Boston/Manchester/Providence). The broadcast is also available online through www.UMassAthletics.com and on smart phones and tablets through the TuneIn app. • The game will be produced by ESPN3 and streamed online via www.WatchESPN.com or on mobile devices via the WatchESPN App. Michael Reghi will call the play-by-play action, while JeRod Cherry will provide color commentary. • The UMass defense held Ball State to under 300 yards of offense while forcing four turnovers as the Minutemen defeated the Cardinals 24-10 last Wednesday at McGuirk Stadium. UMass was led by Blake Frohnapfel’s 424 yards passing and Tajae Sharpe’s 239 yards receiving on offense. Defensivley, linebackers Jovan Santos-Knox and Stanley Andre combined for 27 overall tackles, while Trey Seals had four tackles, a sack, a forced fumble, a fumble recovery and an interception. • The tandem of Blake Frohnapfel and Tajae Sharpe have begun to catch the attention of the MAC and the NCAA. Sharpe was named to the Biletnikoff Watch List after his breakout start to the season. Frohnapfel ranks 3rd in the NCAA for passing yards this year (3,345), while Sharpe also ranks 4th for receiving yards (1,204).
• UMass was one of two teams in the country (Louisiana Monroe) to play four non-conference games against teams from the Power Five conferences (ACC, PAC-12, SEC, Big Ten). • Complete Game Notes As PDF |
