XC Women Rest Top Runners For CCSU Mini-Meet

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The UMass women competed at the CCSU Mini-Meet this Friday, October 24 while resting their top runners in preparation for the A10 Championships the following week. The women faced off against 20 teams at the 4:00 p.m. 3K, ultimately finishing 15th out of 20. Amid cool October temperatures, Boston College took home the win with 52 points, including two finishers in the top ten. Providence took second with 58 points and the overall top individual finish with a time of 9:59.14. Yale placed third with 77 points and one finisher in the top ten. New Hampshire and CCSU took fourth and fifth place with 112 points and 216 points respectively.
Meg Rodowicz led UMass with a 77th overall finish in a crowd of 129. She finished the three kilometer course with a time of 11:23.75. Kacie Quinn marked the second Minutewoman finisher at 82nd place with a time of 11:28.90. Third for UMass in 88th was Callie Hansson, finishing in 11:34.56. Robyn Argo took the 100th overall spot and fourth team finish. She ran a time of 11:45.47. Fifth was Megan Cummings in 106th place with a time of 12:03.63. Rounding out the six UMass competitors was Jasmine Abreu finishing in 12:21.81 and 112th place overall.
Next week, the resting top Minutewoman will return November 1st, 2014 for the Atlantic 10 Championships, the penultimate race of the season. The women will travel to Pittsburg, Penn. at Schenley Park and will meet on the starting line for the gun at 10:00 a.m. Weather reports for that day are expected to be a mix of sun and clouds with temperatures reaching 45 degrees.
