Inside the Goggles with... Michael Glenn
October 23, 2014 | Men's Swimming & Diving
The second installment of a weekly series where UMass Athletics catches up with members of the Swimming & Diving teams for a Question & Answer session! Next on the blocks is Michael Glenn.
Michael is a senior Biology major from Overland Park, Kan. He was named the Atlantic 10 Swimmer of the Week in January of last season. He is also a 6-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll, achieving the honor all six semesters at UMass.
How would you describe this team in terms of personality and work ethic?
"It's really well put together. The team is really coming together well. Everyone is working hard, the freshmen are hungry. It's good."
In what ways have you grown during your time at UMass?
"I guess I used to think more about doing the best I could for myself. Now, on this team, it's more about doing your best for the team."
How would you describe coach Yarworth?
"Motivating. That would be the best word."
What are some of your earliest memories of swimming/diving?
"I started for my neighborhood swim team when I was six. I swam with them until I was 16. I've got most of the records there."
Do you have any siblings who swim? Are there any family rivalries there?
"I have a little brother. He's ten years younger, so he just wants to beat where I was."
Who is the best dancer on the team?
"Tyler Williams."
Who is the funniest on the team?
"Heath Maginn. He's a jokester who brings it all the time."
Who is the best dresser on the team?
"Probably Brian Stiles."
Where is a place on campus you like to go to hang out?
"The library. I like the quiet. Just go find a quiet floor. It's nice."
