October 17, 2014 | Men's Swimming & Diving
AMHERST, Mass. -- The UMass men's and women's swimming and diving teams will open their 2014-15 seasons on Saturday with a home dual meet against Army at the Joseph R. Rogers, Jr. Pool inside Boyden Gymnasium.
One diving session will begin at 11:45 a.m., with the remainder of the meet scheduled to start at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free.
A total of 22 returning Minutemen are back for head coach Russ Yarworth, including all-conference performer Alessandro Bomprezzi. Yarworth also recruited a talented class of seven freshmen for this season.
Bob Newcomb's women's squad returns 27 lettwerwinners, including five all-conference performers - Katie Arnott, Mikhaila Eckhardt, Zoe Judd, Molly Smyth and Meriza Werenski - from a year ago, while welcoming four newcomers.
Army swept both portions of the meet in New York last season, defeating the women 163-137 and the men 197-97.
