ROXBURY, Mass. - The Minutewomen competed in the Northeastern Indoor Games Friday evening at the Reggie Lewis Center in Roxbury, Mass. UMass' standout performance came from Rachel Hilliard in the unscored meet.
Hilliard completed the 3,000 meter race in 9-minutes, 52.04-seconds crossing the finish line second overall. The time stands as the fifth best in program history in the 3,000 meter run.
Another Minutewoman to thrive on the track was Heather MacLean. The freshman has fired off the blocks in her first three meets grabbing her third first place finish in the 800 meter run on Friday. MacLean finished the race in just 2-minutes, 14.69-seconds.
Kayla Baldwin and Meghan Patrolia found success in shorter distance events with eighth place finishes in their respective events. Baldwin ran a 26.32-second race in the 200 meter dash for her eighth place finish while Patrolia took just 9.27-seconds to finish the 60 meter hurdles.
UMass recorded three top eight finishes in relays at the Reggie Lewis Center. 4x400 meter relay quads turned in a second and sixth place finish while the distance medley relay team grabbed seventh place.
Once again Becky Stoyle, Courtney Kromko and Ashley Palmer showcased their talents in the triple and long jump.
Stoyle leaped 40-feet, 4-inches in the triple jump for her first place finish and jumped 17-feet, 6-inches in the long jump for a second place finish.
In the long jump Stoyle was the runner up to Kromko who leaped the top mark landing with a distance of 18-feet, 0.25-inches. Kromko also scored in the triple jump with a third place finish and a mark equaling 38-feet, 8.25-inches. Palmer was the third Minutewoman to score in the long jump finishing fifth in the event.
Also scoring in the field was Rachel Busch and Kelsey Crawford. Busch set a height of 10-feet, 11.75-inches in the pole vault for a seventh place finish while Crawford threw the third best mark of the meet in the shot put with a mark of 43-feet, 6-inches.
The Minutewomen will compete next weekend in Cambridge, Mass. at the Harvard Invitational with a start time set for 11:00 a.m.
