Minutewomen Tie For First In Regular Season Finale

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. - The Minutewomen tied for first place with Providence with 78 points in New Britain, Conn. on Friday afternoon in the CCSU Mini-Meet. They finished tied for first in a field of 16 on a course less than two miles long. Providence is ranked first in the country however they did not run their full squad. Freshman standout Christine Davis placed third overall in a race including 137 runners and came just seconds short of the course record going into the meet.
At the start of competition the best time recorded on the CCSU Mini-Meet course was 10:03, a time set last season. Christine Davis finished just 12-seconds short of the course record with her third place finish overall with a time of 10-minutes, 15-seconds. She was trailed by Katie Powers in ninth place, completing the race in 10-minutes, 20-seconds. This was both Davis and Powers' best race of the season in terms of team and overall finish.
Rachel Hilliard was just seconds behind Powers finishing 15th overall at 10-minutes, 26-seconds. Sarah Barrett was the next to finish at 10-minutes, 36-seconds. The senior placed fourth for her team and 24th overall. Just a second behind her was Alexandra Purdue-Smithe in 27th place at 10-minutes, 37-seconds.
Finishing off the top seven was Carly Zinner and Katrina Martyn. Zinner ran the course in 10-minutes, 42-seconds while Martyn finished in 10-minutes 45-seconds. The pair finished 35th and 41st respectively.
