AMHERST, Mass. - Following a sweep of three games played during the previous week, the UMass field hockey team tallied a set of honors on Monday. With wins over No. 1 Syracuse, Saint Louis and Virginia Commonwealth, senior defender Thando Zono and sophomore defender Lauren Allymohamed earned laurels for their performances.

Zono took home Atlantic 10 Conference Athlete of the Week thanks to strong defensive performances and one of the most important goals in UMass field hockey history, the game-winner against No. 1 nationally ranked Syracuse. Zono's work on defense led to UMass only giving up three goals over the three-game stretch, while her outlet passes and physical presence up front helped pace the Minutewomen to 11 tallies during the trio of games, an average of 3.67 per game.

Allymohamed tallied UMass Athlete of the Week honors on the strength of her stalwart defensive play against the top attacking players on each of the three squads faced this week. Allymohamed also secured a pair of assists during action this week, sending a long outlet pass to Weusthuis for the game-tying goal against No. 1 Syracuse before assisting senior defender Callie Sweigart in doubling the UMass lead over VCU on Sunday.

The Minutewomen continue their season with a pair of road games in Philadelphia, Pa. UMass faces La Salle on Friday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. before battling Saint Joseph's at Noon on Sunday, Oct. 21. The next home game for the Minutewomen will occur on Friday, Oct. 26 when Temple visits Garber Field for a 3 p.m. contest.
