Minutewomen Fall At Temple, 2-0

AMBLER, Pa. - The UMass women's soccer team was unable to overcome a two-goal first half deficit, falling to Temple, 2-0 at the Ambler Sports Complex on Sunday afternoon. With the setback, the Minutewomen fall to 7-8-0 on the year, 2-3-0 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Owls improve to 5-9-2 overall and 2-3-0 in the conference.

Alyssa Kirk put Temple on the board in the 29th minute with her tally from Paula Jurewicz.

Then at the 36:55 mark, Jourdan Brill found the back of the net off a corner from Karly O'Toole.

UMass peppered Owls' goalkeeper Shauni Kerkhoff with eight shots on net, but Kerkhoff turned aside all eight to collect the shutout. Freshmen Jen Coppola and Jackie Bruno led the Minutewomen with four attempts at goal apiece as the squad out-shot Temple, 19-17. Corner kicks were even at 7-7, while fouls were 13-5 against the Owls.

Senior goalkeepers Emily Cota and Stephanie Gordon split time in net for UMass and made two saves each.

The Minutewomen will return to action next Friday, Oct. 19, facing Charlotte on Rudd Field at 4 p.m.
