AMHERST, Mass. - The Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association released their Academic Honor Roll for the 2011 season. Among the 187 student-athletes honored were three Minutewomen, RS Junior Brittany Schoen, Senior Riley Perry, and Senior Danielle Pelletier. Perry was also the Atlantic 10 Women's Lacrosse Student-Athlete of the Year and was on the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team.

Perry, who played on defense and is majoring in Sport Management, started in 19 games and scored three goals. She also had 26 defensive clears on the season and caused 17 turnovers. She was fifth on the team in ground balls (32) and in draw controls (26). Perry was also named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference Second-Team and to the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament Team.

Last season, Pelletier, a mid-fielder and Nursing major, played in all 20 games and started in 12. She boasted 13 goals and four assists, as well as 18 ground balls. She also had 18 defensive clears and caused four turnovers. In the first game of the season against Holy Cross, she scored three goals, including the last goal of the game.

Schoen, also a defensive player and a Communications Disorders major, saw time in eight games last season. She caused one turnover and had one defensive clear.

The UMass women's lacrosse team posted a 17-3 overall record including a perfect 10-0 mark in league play winning its third straight Atlantic 10 Tournament Title. The Minutewomen also won the NCAA Play-In Game before falling at Loyola in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Five of the top seven offensive scorers will return for 2012 including Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Katie Ferris who finished second on the team in points (72), but was the team's top goal-scorer (56). Ferris finished the year as one of the top freshmen in the country. Jesse O'Donnell, Nina Sarcona, Tanner Guarino and Pelletier all return, but the Minutewomen will be without the services of All-American Jackie Lyons who completed her senior year in 2011 with 41 goals and 32 assists to lead UMass with 73 points.

Defensively, UMass returns three of its top four back row players and senior goalie Katie Florence who was an All-Region pick and the A-10 Defensive Player of the Year.

Seniors Perry and Ali Houlis return to bolster what has been the top defense in the Atlantic 10 for the last three years. Kelsey Palmer also returns to the starting line-up with four-year starter Nazy Kerr being the only loss from the rotation.
