NECs Up Next For Women's Track and Field

AMHERST, Mass. - This weekend brings the New England Championships for the UMass women's track and field team. The meet is set to go off Friday, May 13 and Saturday, May 14 at 12 p.m. At NECs for the indoor season, Stephanie Aguguo and Gina Perno both took second place in the triple jump and the 1000 meter run respectively.
Qualifiers The following members of the women's track and field team have qualified for the New England Championship meet.
Kayla Baldwin: Kayla qualified for the 100 meter run at the UMass Pre-Conference Meet where she came in second place in the event with a time of 12:57.
Michelle Jenssen: Michelle qualified for the 400 meter hurdles with her fastest time coming at the UMass Pre-Conference Meet, running it in 1:04.83.
Gina Perno: Gina qualified for New Englands in the 800 meter run with her fastest time coming at the Atlantic 10 Championship Meet. She ran it in 2:10.29, which also became the third all-time mark for UMass. Gina also qualified for the 1500 meter run at the AIC Invitational with a time of 4:42.59.
Claire Pettit: Claire qualified for New Englands in the 800 meter run with her fastest time of 2:15.31 coming at the UMass Pre-Conference Meet.
Karen Roa: Karen qualified for the 3000 meter steeplechase at the Larry Ellis Invitational with a record-breaking time of 10:34.16. She now holds the all time mark in the event for UMass.
Elizabeth Fisk: Elizabeth qualified for New Englands in the 1500 meter run with her fastest time of 4:41.65 coming at the Larry Ellis Invitational.
Kristin Darling: Kristin qualified for the 10000 meter run at the Atlantic 10 Championship meet with a time of 38:51.27.
Sarah Bitterman: Sarah qualified for New Englands in the 400 meter hurdles. Her fastest time came at the UMass Pre-Conference meet where she ran it in 1:04.88.
Ida Okkonen: Ida qualified for the long jump with her longest leap coming at the UMass Pre-Conference meet with a mark of 18-01.75.
Katherine Finnegan: Katherine qualified for New Englands in the long jump at the Minuteman Invitational with a mark of 17-07.00.
Stephanie Aguguo: Stephanie qualified for the triple jump with her longest mark of the season coming at the Atlantic 10 Championship Meet with a mark of 41-03.75. This jump made her an Altantic 10 Champion and also became the all-time mark at UMass, and was the second time that she set the all-time mark this season.
Nalis Mbianda: Nalis qualified for the shot put at the Larry Ellis Invitational with a mark of 45-03.75. This is also the second all-time mark at UMass in the event.
Sarah Plesh: Sarah qualified for New Englands in the Heptathalon at the Atlantic 10 Championship meet with 3691 points.
Sara Murphy: Sara qualified in the Heptathalon at the Atlantic 10 Championship meet with 3637 points.
The 4x800 meter relay team will run at New Englands with their UMass record setting time of 8:54.72
