NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - On Friday, April 22 the Atlantic 10 Conference acknowledged senior Kaitlyn Carpenter, sophomore Julia Comas, and freshman Yuliana Motyl for their outstanding performances on and off the tennis court. Carpenter was named to the Academic All-Conference squad for her achievements in the classroom, Motyl was honored in the 12-person All-Conference first team and Comas was honored in the All-Conference second-team.
Carpenter excelled in the classroom in her tenure at UMass, as she accrued a 3.648 GPA in the Kinesiology major. Beyond the classroom, she worked as a tutor in the Academic Services Office and was named the senior co-captain with her teammate Candynce Boney. She tallied a 12-7 record in singles and 9-3 record in doubles this season.
Comas played extremely well this year on the court, as she totaled 17 wins in singles and four wins in doubles. She was named to the A-10 All-Conference first team with teammate Candynce Boney last year as a freshman.
In her first year, Motyl was honored with 11 other women's tennis players as the A-10 All-Conference first-team. After a slow start, she was able to tally 10 singles wins in number one and 13 doubles wins in number one to give UMass a dual threat to give her team a great chance to win a dual match.
