NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - For the first time this season, a UMass harrier brought home a weekly A-10 award on October 3. Sean Duncan was named the Atlantic 10 Male Cross Country Performer of the Week on Monday morning for his standout performance at this past weekend's Paul Short Invitational.

Leading the Minutemen for a second consecutive meet, the Gardner, Mass. native placed 86th in meet, which featured the likes of #4 Oklahoma, #12 Princeton, and #15 Syracuse. Duncan ran a time of 25:28 at Lehigh University, helping UMass to finish 27th out of 45 teams.

Duncan also placed higher than any Minuteman has since 2009 when Jonathan Pierce came in 39th overall at the annual event.

Ken O'Brien's squad returns to action this Saturday at the New England Championships in Boston, Mass. The race is set to begin at 11:45 a.m.
