Day Two Wraps At Eastern Invitational Tennis Action

STONY BROOK, N.Y. - Julia Comas and the doubles team of Kaitlyn Carpenter and Jocelyn Providence highlighted day two action for the UMass tennis team at the Eastern Collegiate Invitational at Army on Saturday. Comas won two matches to reach the Sunday finals of the Flight B singles, while the team of Carpenter-Providence won a pair of matches to reach the Flight B doubles finals.
After receiving an opening round bye and winning a match on Friday, Comas won two matches on Saturday. After defeating Army's Taylor Della, 6-3; 6-4, she beat Stony Brook's Prerana Appineni, 6-3; 6-7(2); 10-4, in the semifinals to set up a match with Emily Mathis of West Virginia in Sunday's finals.
Carpenter and Providence beat the UConn doubles team of Garguilo and Griffin before defeating the St. John's team of Adams and Austin to reach the Sunday finals of the Flight B doubles against the Bell-Newman team from Amherst College.
