Women's Track Wraps Up Day One In Princeton

PRINCETON, N.J. - The UMass women's track and field team finished day one of competition at the Larry Ellis Invitational Friday night. The Minutewomen were highlighted by a school record from Karen Roa, three New England Championship qualifiers, a strong first day performance from Lisa Wilson.
Leading the qualifiers for New Englands was sophomore Karen Roa, who set a school record in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Roa set a time of 10:54.97 and finished in eighth place.
Shiyi Zan and Lauren Stocker both qualified for the New England Championships in the 5000 meters with respective times of 17:48.14 and 18:02.30. They join Karen Roa who qualified for the meet at last week's UMass Nine-Way Meet.
Lisa Wilson started out the day in the hammer throw taking third place with a mark of 166-01. Wilson then went on to take fourth in the discus (135-02).
Competition will resume Saturday, Apr. 17 at 12:00 p.m. The schedule of events is as follows:
