Minutemen Compete at IC4A Championships

BRONX, N.Y. - The UMass men's cross country team competed at the IC4A Championships on Saturday and were able to place 17th as a team out of 19 squads. Competing in the Championship Race, as opposed to the University Race, which is a bit more competitive, the Minutemen tallied 446 points in a field of 162 harriers.
Leading the way for a second time this season for UMass was Patrick McAllister who placed 58th overall in 26:12. Following the junior for UMass was freshman hopeful Patrick McGowan in 60th, crossing the line at 26:13.4.
The freshman and junior duo of Jared Reddy and Andrew Erwin crossed the line next for the Minutemen, placing 107th and 120th overall with marks of 26:51.1 and 27:03.2. Rounding out the squad's top five finishers was Paul Merriman in 137th with a time of 27:26.7.
Also competing for UMass were Dan Joyce and Jeff Hill.
The Minutemen conclude their 2010 campaign after Saturday's race, finishing with several outstanding accomplishments, including a third place finish at the A-10 Championships, placing ninth at the NCAA Regional Championships, and stealing eighth in a field of 50 teams at the highly competitive Chili Pepper Festival.
