Freshman Swimming Tandem Awarded A-10 Honors

AMHERST, Mass. - UMass swimming and diving freshman Derek Hursch and Chris Inglis received Atlantic 10 weekly honors Monday after their exceptional performance against Stony Brook Saturday. Hursch was named Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Co-Performer of the Week along with Chris Charmichael of Saint Louis. Inglis receives his first collegiate honor, being named Atlantic 10 Men's Rookie of the Week.
For Hursch this is his third A-10 honor in only three weeks of action. Against Stony Brook he won the 100-yard backstroke (54.77), the 400-yard individual medley (4:09.95) and helped his teammates win the 200-yard medley relay (1:38.55). He has yet to lose an individual event during his rookie campaign.
Inglis picked up his first career collegiate victory over the weekend winning the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:17.01. He also finished second in the 200-yard freestyle (1:45.41) and third in the 400-yard individual medley (4:20.10).
Both teams will be back in action this Friday as they travel to Binghamton. The two day meet is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
