AMHERST, Mass. - UMass men's swimming and diving duo Jason Cook and Derek Hursch were recognized for their performance this past weekend against Army. Cook was named Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week, along with being named co-UMass Athlete of the Week with soccer's Therese Smith. Hursch was named Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Rookie of the Week. This is his second honor in as many weeks.

Cook, a junior from Amherst, Mass., who was named Most Outstanding Diver in the past two seasons dominated on the diving board against Army. In the one-meter dive he scored a 334.50, which set a new school and pool record. In the three-meter dive he scored a 368.25, which was also good for a new pool record. He currently holds the best scores in the A-10 in both the three and one-meter dives.

Hursch, a freshman out of Rochelle Park, N.J., was named to his second Atlantic 10 honor in his second week of collegiate action. In the meet against Army, Hursch won the 200 free (1:41.46), the 100 free (47.19) and the 200 IM (1:55.36). He has yet to lose in any individual event he has competed in.

Cook and Hursch will look to help lead the Minutemen to another victory as they head to Stony Brook on Oct. 30.
