AMHERST, Mass. - UMass freshman Derek Hursch was recognized this week for his outstanding performance in the pool against Boston University by being named Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week. Hursch won all three events he participated in on Saturday's season opener against the Terriers.
The Roschelle Park, N.J. native won the 200-yard freestyle (1:44.89), the 100-yard freestyle (47.36) and the 200-yard individual medley (1:54.96) in his collegiate debut.
Hursch will look to continue his dominance in the pool as the Minutemen and Minutewomen look to bounce back after being swept by BU.
Both teams will be back in action on Oct. 23, as they take on Army in this season's home opener at Joseph Rogers Pool.
