Women's XC Competes In Home Meet Saturday

AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's cross country team held its only home meet of the season this Saturday when the squad took on Maine, Vermont, Boston College, and Amherst College. Boston College won the meet with 32 points, followed by Vermont (46), Maine (81), Amherst College (93), and UMass (109).
Sophomore Claire Pettit was the lead runner for the Minutewomen, finishing the 5k in 18:28. Pettit took 16th overall in the field of 83 runners. Sophomore Karen Roa was close behind and came in 18th overall with a time of 18:37.
Rounding out the top five finishers for UMass were junior Gina Perno (18:52), junior co-captain Lauren Stocker (19:06), and sophomore Jennifer Harkey (19:22). Perno, Stocker, and Harkey placed 25th, 32nd, and 37th respectively.
The Minutewomen are back in action on Friday, Oct. 2, when they compete in the Paul Short Invitational in Bethlehem, Pa.
