UMass Drops Wednesday's Match To Boston College, 5-0

Chestnut Hill, Mass. - The University of Massachusetts women's tennis team had a tough match on Wednesday, falling to the Boston College Eagles, 5-0. The Eagles won all three of the doubles matches giving them the first point of the match. UMass (8-11) fought hard in singles play but was unable to come up with a win.
Dasha Cherkasov and Lauren Cash represented BC at No. 1 doubles, they defeated UMass' Tanisha Hodgson and Kaitlyn Carpenter, 8-2. At No. 2 doubles, the Boston duo of Alina Sullivan and Brittany Delaney won 8-4, over Laura Danai and Maude Lecluyse. At No. 3 doubles, Lana Krasnopolsky and Jackie Mabatah defeated Lauren MacKay and Freshman Gabriella Jannotta, 8-0.
Carpenter took the stage at No. 1 singles for UMass, unfortunately falling to Katarina Gajic, 6-2, 6-3. At No. 3 singles Lecluyse had a close match falling just short, in a tiebreak, to Alina Sullivan, 6-3, 7-6(3).
The Minutewomen return to action on Sunday Apr. 5 when they travel to Connecticut to take on the Quinnipiac Bobcats.
