Women's XC Takes 20th At NCAA Regionals

BOSTON, Mass. - The UMass women's cross country team took 20th place with 587 points at the NCAA Regional Qualifier Saturday afternoon. Out of the field of 35 teams, Syracuse (59 points) won the race followed by Providence (70 points).
The top runner for UMass was freshman Courtney Baldwin. Leading the Minutewomen for the fourth consecutive week, Baldwin finished the 6k in 22:55. This time put Baldwin in 23rd place out of 243 runners. Following Baldwin was redshirt junior co-captain Shiyi Zan and sophomore Karen Roa. Zan grabbed 96th place and finished with a time of 24:22, while Roa took 135th place and crossed at 24:59.
Rounding out the top five finishers for UMass were junior Gina Perno and freshman Danielle Allocco. Perno (25:11) finished 142nd overall and Allocco (26:02) finished 191st overall.
The Minutewomen will be back in action on Saturday, Nov. 21 for the ECAC Championships. The race will take place in New York, N.Y. at 11 a.m.
