AMHERST, Mass. - For the second straight week, freshman cross country runner Courtney Baldwin was named the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week. Baldwin led UMass to a fourth place finish out of twenty-four teams at the Albany Invitational this past Saturday.
In only her second career intercollegiate race, Baldwin shined once again. At the Albany Invitational, she finished the 5k race with a time of 18:10. Her time was a season best for the Minutewomen, and garnered an 11th place finish out of 193 total harriers. This strong performance earned Baldwin her second consecutive A-10 Rookie of the Week award.
A week ago, Baldwin was named the A-10 Performer of the Week and A-10 Rookie of the Week. This came after she led UMass to a 14th place finish in a field of 49 teams at the New England Championships. At the Boston meet, Baldwin placed 16th out of 322 runners. She crossed with a time of 18:22.
Baldwin will look to continue her impressive run when the Minutewomen head to St. Louis, Mo. for the Atlantic-10 Championships. The meet will take place on Saturday, Oct. 31 with the women's race starting at 10 a.m.
