AMHERST, Mass. - The UMass women's tennis team will be playing their inaugural match on the outdoor tennis courts behind the Mullins Center today at 3:00 p.m. The match is also the final home match for the Minutewomen in the 2008 spring season. UMass will take on the Bobcats of the Quinnipiac University.

This is the seventh meeting between the two teams with UMass winning most of the match-ups. They have taken five out of the six prior games from the Bobcats, the last coming last year at Quinnipiac. The Minutewomen won, 4-3. The Series between the two began in 2002 and has been played every year since then.

Today will be senior day for UMass. The tennis team will be honoring their two seniors and captains, Masha Pozar and Kristin DiPiero in a ceremony held around 2:45 p.m. before the meet begins.

Masha is a four-year letter winner for the Minutewomen. She was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team in her first three years with the team and has been named an Academic All-American twice. She is currently the career doubles wins holder with 71 wins and counting. She is currently in second place in career singles wins with 63, only four behind her former doubles partner Michele Spiess.

Kristin has been named an ITA Scholar-Athlete for the past two seasons and has played the majority of the time during her career in doubles play. Her freshman year, she won the Flight B doubles at the Eastern Collegiate tournament. This year, she is undefeated in singles play with a record of 6-0.
