CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - In a makeup meet held last night against Boston College in Chestnut Hill, UMass fell, 7-0. Originally the match was supposed to be held on February 1 at the Bay Road Tennis Complex but was pushed back due to bad weather. The series between the two teams dates back to 1975 and is one of the oldest for the Minutewomen. With this win, Boston College holds a 13-2 advantage over UMass.
It was a tough night for UMass as the Nos. 1-4 doubles all fell giving up the doubles point of the match to the Eagles. In singles, No.2 Candynce Boney battled in the first set of the match, but succumbed to her Boston College foe, 7-6(2), 6-0 in two sets.
Nothing really got going for the Minutewomen throughout the match as for the second time this season; UMass was downed 7-0 in dual meet play. Their last 7-0 loss came against Ivy League powerhouse Dartmouth on Feb. 20.
The Minutewomen return to action against Brown in Providence, R.I. on March 7 at 3:00 p.m.
