Schneider, Rappe, and Upperco Named Co-Athletes Of The Week

AMHERST, Mass. -
Senior R.J. Rappe (Farmington, Minn.) of the men's diving squad, junior Karen Upperco (Titusville, N.J.) of the women's diving team and junior Doc Schneider (Massapequa, N.Y), the goalie for the men's lacrosse team, were chosen for Athlete of the Week.
R.J. Rappe was named the Most Outstanding Diver of the meet after helping the men's swimming & diving team to its 10th Atlantic 10 Championship Title and the seventh in the last eight years. Rappe won the one-meter dive and won the three-meter dive as well. It was the fourth time in his career that he won the one-meter dive and the first time winning the three-meter board. Rappe set new Atlantic 10 Championship Records on both boards. On the one-meter board, he scored 635.90 points, while on the three-meterboard he scored 678.55 points.
Karen Upperco was named the Most Outstanding Diver in the A-10 Championship meet after winning the one-meter dive and taking second in the three-meter dive. Upperco set a new Atlantic 10 record on the one-meter dive with 520.60 points and had a career-best 563.95 points on the three-meter dive.
Doc Schneider tied his career-high with 19 saves in the win over No. 17 Hofstra in the season-opener last Saturday. Schneider was also named the Co-Defensive player of the week for the ECAC.
