Boston, Mass. - Sophomore Andrew McCann (Fayetteville, N.Y.) led the way for UMass at Boston's Franklin Park where the New England Championships took place on Saturday. McCann took third place out of 282 runners on Saturday as UMass placed third out of 43 teams.

McCann finished the race in 25 minutes and 25 seconds as he was the first to cross the finish line for the Minutemen. Sophomore Daniel Barry (Sheffield, Mass.) was the next finisher for UMass. He placed 21st with a time of 25 minutes and 49 seconds. Freshman Kris Carle (Jackson, N.J.) took 22nd place as he finished in 25 minutes and 50 seconds, just one second after Barry.

Rounding out the top five for the Minutemen were junior Jesse Regnier (Hampden, Mass.) who placed 26th, and sophomore Jonathan Pierce (Hanover, Mass.) who placed 46th.

The Minutemen will race again next Saturday in Albany, N.Y. at the Albany Invitational.
