DeRosa Wins Championships While Men Tie For Third

Philadelphia, PA - Senior leader Christina Derosa (Sound Beach, N.Y.) finished first at the Atlantic 10 Championships today in Philadelphia. The women's team placed sixth overall at the Championships while the men's team tied for third. On top of being named the Championship's Most Outstanding Performer, DeRosa earned All-Conference honors along with teammate Shiyi Zan (Ottawa, Ontario). On the men's side, sophomore Andrew McCann (Fayetteville, N.Y.) and junior Jesse Regnier (Hampden, Mass.) earned All-Conference honors for their performances in today's race.
DeRosa was the first runner to cross the finish line in today's race, and finished the race in 18 minutes and 27 seconds. She was follow by teammate and consistent number two runner Shiyi Zan. Zan placed 13th overall, and ran the race in 19 minutes and 16 seconds. Rounding out the top five for the Minutewomen were freshmen Lauren Stocker (Westfield, Mass.) and Samantha Sacchetti (Weymouth, Mass.), and junior Amber Sayer(Amherst, Mass.). Stocker placed 29th while Sacchetti and Sayer placed 57th and 67th respectively.
The men's team also had a great race in Philadelphia today tying Duquesne for third with 91 points. The top finisher for the Minutemen was sophomore Andrew McCann who placed seventh overall and finished the race in 25 minutes and 53 seconds. Junior Jesse Regnier also finished in the top 15 overall in today's race when he placed 13th and finished the race in 26 minutes and six seconds. Any runner who finished in the top 15 in today's races, for both men's and women's, automatically earned All-Conference honors.
Rounding out the top five for the Minutemen were sophomore Daniel Barry (Sheffield, Mass.), freshman Jeff Hill (Blackstone, Mass.), and sophomore Jonathan Pierce (Hanover, Mass.) who finished 22nd, 24th, and 25th respectively.
LaSalle had an outstanding day for both their men's and women's teams as both their top runners placed second overall in their respective races as the school won the meet.
Both the men's and women's teams will begin preparing for their next race which is the NCAA Regional Qualifier, which will be held in Boston on Saturday Novermber 10th.
