Head Coach Judy Dixon To Be Honored By Yale On Friday

Amherst, Mass. - On Friday evening, UMass women's tennis head coach Judy Dixon will be honored by The Yale Club of New York City. She will be one of three women coaches on hand to commemorate the history of women's tennis at the school.
Coach Dixon took over the reigns with Yale in 1973 when tennis became the school's first women's varsity sport. She remained head coach for three seasons in which her teams went a combined 40-14, including an Ivy League Title.
Coach Dixon came to UMass in 1992 and has led the Minutewomen to a 167-131 record over her fourteen seasons. She has been named Atlantic 10 coach of the year three times. Coach Dixon led the Minutewomen through a memorable season in 2001, as they won an Atlantic 10 title and made the NCAA tournament. She is the winningest tennis coach in UMass history.
Members of Yale teams from the first ten years will be in attendance as will this year's men's and women's players and coaches. The festivities begin at 7:00 p.m.
