Senior Ashley Creel Places Third in Holy Cross Heptathlon

WORCESTER, Mass. - Senior Ashley Creel (Sandwich, Mass.) tallied a total of 3,912 points over two days to earn a third place finish in the Holy Cross Heptathlon. Creel competed against sixteen other athletes, including freshman Liz Biehl (Northboro, Mass.) who placed sixteenth with a total of 2,613 points.
Creel's top performance of the day came with a first place finish in the high jump competition with a distance of 5 feet, 3 ¾ inches. This first place finish also marks an outdoor seasonal best.
In other events, Creel placed 5th in the 100-meter hurdles finishing in 16.79 seconds, another seasonal best. In the shot put competition, Creel placed ninth with a throw of 27 feet, 6 ½ inches. In the 200-meter dash, Creel placed 10th finishing in 28.29 seconds, while placing eighth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:38.12.
In the long jump competition, Creel had a distance of 15 feet, 10 ¼ inches to finish in fourth place. In the javelin throw, Creel had a distance of 83 feet to finish in sixth place.
Liz Biehl placed sixteenth overall in the heptathlon with 2,613 points. Biehl's best performance of the day came in the high jump competition with a jump of 4 feet, 9 ¾ inches to place fourth. In the 800-meter run, Biehl placed thirteenth with a time of 2:47.46. In the 100-meter hurdles, Biehl placed 15th finishing in 20.16 seconds.
Biehl placed sixteenth in three events. Biehl had a throw of 21 feet, 4 ¾ inches in the shot put competition. In the long jump competition, Biehl had a distance of 13 feet, 5 ½ inches. For the javelin competition, Biehl had a throw of 44 feet. In the 200-meter dash, Biehl, placed seventeenth with a time of 30.58 seconds.
This weekend both the women's and men's teams will travel to Storrs, Connecticut to take part in the UConn Invitational.
