Mary Jenkins Named To A-10 Academic All-Conference Team

AMHERST, Mass. - Mary Jenkins (Acton, Mass.) was named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team as announced by the league on Tuesday. For Jenkins, this was the second time in her career that she has been named to the all-academic squad (2005). The junior diver is an exercise science major posting a 3.781 grade point average.
She is a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Conference team and won the one-meter dive title at the 2004 Atlantic 10 Championships. Jenkins was the 2005 Team MVP and the 2004 Team Rookie of the Year. In her three years at UMass, she ranks fourth all-time in the one-meter dive and ninth on the three-meter board.
Jenkins is the 18th UMass swimmer/diver to be named to the all-academic team since 1993. She is the first back-to-back honoree since Becky Hunnewell in 2001 and 2002.
To be nominated, a player must be a starter or important reserve and have a cumulative 3.0 gpa or better (on a 4.0 scale) for his/her entire academic career. A transfer is not eligible unless he/she has completed one (1) full year at his/her institution. Freshmen are not eligible.
