UMass Dominates In The Post To Beat Bonnies 72-64

OLEAN, N.Y. (AP) - Junior Rashaun Freeman had a season-high tying 25 points and career-high 19 rebounds Sunday to lead Massachusetts to a 72-64 win over St. Bonaventure in Atlantic 10 play.
Stephane Lasme added 11 points and a career-high 15 rebounds as UMass (11-12, 6-6) ended a three-game losing streak.
Freeman helped break a 46-46 tie with eight points in a 10-4 run that put UMass up 56-50 with 8:19 to play.
The Bonnies (7-17, 1-12) never got closer than seven the rest of the game. UMass took a lead as large as 10 in the second half.
Led by five points from Ahmad Smith, St. Bonaventure opened the second half with an 8-0 run for a 40-37 lead. Smith led the Bonnies with 21 points, and Michael Lee had 20.
The Minutemen outrebounded the Bonnies 54-33. Freeman and Lasme combined to outrebound their entire St. Bona team, 34-33.
Freeman was a beast in the second half as he piled up 14 points and 13 rebounds in the period. With 11 offensive rebounds in the game, Freeman became the first Minuteman since Ajmal Basit to have 10 offensive rebounds in a game. Basit had 10 against Georgetown on Dec. 4, 1996.
The last time a UMass player had more than 19 rebounds came 30 years ago as Jim Town hauled in 27 against Boston College on Dec. 12, 1976.
Lasme's second half was equally impressive as he scored all of his 11 points in the half and had 11 rebounds in the second 20 minutes. Lasme has two of his isx career double-doubles at St. Bonaventure.
The win was just the second of the season on the road for UMass as they Minutemen also beat Duquesne on Jan. 7. The win also wrapped up a span of 18 out of 27 days on the road for UMass as the Minutemen played six of eight away from the Mullins Center.
