AMHERST, Mass. - The men's and women's cross country teams improved on their finishes from last season's NCAA Regional Qualifier. Sophomore Jesse Regnier (Hampden, Mass.) lead the way for the Minutemen finishing 54th overall with a time of 33:22.2 as the men's cross country team finished 14th overall. The 14th place finish was an improvement on their 17th place finish a season ago. Junior Christina Derosa (Sound Beach, N.Y.) led the Minutewomen to a 21st place finish with her 46th place finish in 22:46.7. The Minutewomen improved nine spots from their 30th place finish last season.

Four Minutemen finished in the top 100, as juniors Nils Fischer (Stow, Mass.), Ryan Durkin (Andover, Mass.) and sophomore Josh Boone (Gardner, Mass.) joined Regnier. Fischer, Durkin and Boone finished 59th, 97th and 98th, respectively. Freshman Andrew McCann (Fayetteville, N.Y.) rounded out the top five finishing 110th overall.

The Minutewomen placed all the top five runners in the top 155 in a field of 228 runners. Sophomore Eilis Kierans (Newbury, Mass.), senior Cuisle Kierans (Newbury, Mass.), freshman Lauren Liuzzo (Acton, Mass.) and junior Ashley Davidson (Natick, Mass.) rounded out the top five by placing 106th, 115th, 149th and 155th, respectively.

The men and women will head back to Van Cortlandt Park in New York, N.Y. next weekend to compete in the IC4A championships. This will be the last meet of the season for both teams. The men's race will begin at 10:30 a.m. while the women will start at 11:15.
