• UMass is now a perfect 4-0 at the Mullins Center against ACC teams (in the league at the time of the game), having previously beaten NC State (1/2/03), Wake Forest (12/6/95) and Florida State (2/3/94). Including two wins over Maryland, one each in Worcester and Springfield, UMass is 6-0 against ACC teams in the state of Massachusetts. All-time, UMass is 18-15 against teams from the current ACC (including Virginia Tech and Miami).

• UMass has beaten a team from the Big East (UConn) and ACC (Florida State) in the same season for the first time since the 1999-2000 season when the Minutemen also beat Florida State as well as Boston College and Villanova,

• UMass had five scorers in double-figures for the second time this season, also done vs. Xavier.

• UMass is a perfect 9-0 when scoring 70 or more points this season and 26-9 under Lappas over the last four years.

• Maurice Maxwell reached double-figures for the eighth time in the last nine games and ninth time in the last 11 games with 18. Maxwell had a career-high six steals in the game.

• Rashaun Freeman reached double-figures for the 40th time in 51 career games and 16th time in 22 games this season with 13.

• In his first start in 10 games, Art Bowers also scored in double-figures for the first time in 12 games and sixth time this season with 12. It was his 18th career game with 10 or more points. He also had a season-high seven assists. • • Freshman Lawrence Carrier had a career-high 11 points in the game.

• Jeff Viggiano had his best game since returning from an ankle injury three weeks ago, as he scored 10 points. It was his third game of the season in double-figures and 25th of his career.

• UMass is now 4-0 when Anthony Anderson is not in the line-up winning three games back in December.

• UMass had a season-high 57.1 percent from the floor (28-of-49). It was the highest since Jan. 28, 2004 when they shot 59.5 percent (25-of-42) against Fordham.

• UMass had a huge shooting half in the final 20 minutes, hitting (17-of-24) in the second half. In the first half, UMass was just 11-for-25 in the first half.

• Conversely Florida State was just 13-of-32 in the second half going 12-of-24 in the first half for 50 percent.

• Senior Anthony Anderson did not dress due to a sore back ... walk-ons Tim Collins (mono) and Nana Ampim (ankle) also did not dress for the game. Alassane Kouyate continued to sit out with bad knees.

Other Notes: UMass won the tap ... Maurice Maxwell hit a jumper for the first points 31 seconds into the action ... Maxwell dunked home UMass' second basket ...
