Women's Cross Country Places Seventh At Wildcat Invite

DURHAM, N.H. - The UMass women's cross country team opened its 2004 season with a seventh place finish at New Hampshire's Wildcat Invitational. Freshman Christina DeRosa paced the Minutewomen with a time of 19:03.21 to finish 21st overall. UMass had five finishers in the top 50.

UMass finished with 169 points, behind champion New Hampshire (55), Binghamton (84), Stony Brook (100), Connecticut (104), Harvard (138) and Boston College (141).

Placing 33rd and 34th overall were Cuisle Kierans (19:23.88) and Amanda Dahlberg (19:24.42), respectively. Finishing 40th and 41st were Tricia Silva (19:36.75) and Alexis Anzelone (19:39.55).

UMass hosts Maine and Vermont next Saturday, Sept. 18 at Totman Field at 11:30 a.m. The men's race starts at 11:45 a.m.
