AMHERST, Mass. - University of Massachusetts sophomore field hockey player Patricia Borneo (Arima, Trinidad & Tobago) was named to the 16-member women's national team which will compete in the XIV Pam American Games, August 2-13, 2003, in Santo Domingo, Puerto Rico. Borneo is making her debut at the senior level.

Trinidad & Tobago will play in pool A alongside world champion Argentina, Chile and the Dominican Republic. Pool B features the United States, Canada, Jamaica and Uruguay. The winner of the eight-team tournament will earn a spot in the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

Last season, Borneo scored one goal for the Minutewomen. She was a member of the Atlantic 10 All-Tournament team and was also selected to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Academic squad. She trained with the 2002 senior national team and was a member of the 2000 national U-21 squad which competed at the Junior Pan American Games.
