AMHERST, Mass. -- Senior diver Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) was selected to the Second Team 2003 Verizon Academic All-District I Women's At-Large (University Division) Team. The 10 student-athletes named to the First Team will advance to the national ballot.
Allery earns the academic honor after tallying a 3.52 grade point average as a Psychology major through her career at UMass. This season Allery was also named to the Atlantic 10 Academic All-Conference Team and was named the Most Outstanding Diver of the Year by the A-10. She earned the conference accolades after she won two events at the Atlantic10 Swimming and Diving Championships. Allery's efforts at the conference meet qualified her for the NCAA Zone A Regionals, where she placed seventh in the 1-meter dive and sixth in the 3-meter dive.
Allery was one of two swimmers to receive a selection on the Verizon Academic All-America Team, with Alyson Fiorillo of Marist also earning the honor.
