Dorothy Iwanowicz tallied three wins for UMass last week.

AMHERST, Mass. - Freshman women's tennis player, Dorothy Iwanowicz (Hilton Head, S.C.) was named the Atlantic 10 Women's Tennis Rookie of the Week for the week ending April 6. Iwanowicz earned the honor after posting three victories against Rhode Island and Fordham last week.

In UMass' 7-0 win over Rhode Island on April 9 Iwanowicz defeated Erin Dwyer, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles. In doubles action, Iwanowicz and Sasha Edelstein (Haifa, Israel) topped URI's Erin Fleming and Jess Collins, 8-2. The freshman's success carried over to Sunday's match against Fordham, where Iwanowicz posted a 6-3, 6-3 win over Danielle Spigner at No. 5 singles. The win helped the Minutewomen edge past the Rams, 5-1, to earn their second conference victory of the spring season.

Iwanowicz and the Minutewomen will return to action on April 9 when they travel to Boston College for a 2:00 p.m. match.
