Swimming and Diving Teams Split With Boston College

On the men's side, sophomore Dylan Smith won two individual events and was part of the winning 200-yard medley relay. Smith claimed the 200-yard butterfly with a clocking of 1:54.42 to lead a 1-2-3 UMass finish in that event. Later in the afternoon, he was victorious in the 100-yard butterfly in 51:68, over two seconds ahead of second place. In the 200-yard medley relay, he teamed with Justin Houck, Peter Tawczynski and Chad Arnold to win the event in 1:36.44. Houck was also victorious in the 100-yard backstroke (52.59). Tawczynski claimed the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.70, and Brandon Doane won the 200-yard backstroke in 1:55.52. The 400-yard freestyle relay of Ryan Zaucha, Arnold, Tommy Keane and Ron Bellamy won the event in 3:05.52, 10 seconds ahead of second place. The Minutemen were also victorious in both diving events. Doane claimed the one-meter title with a score of 264.60, and Logan Alomar won the three-meter event with a score of 280.95.
The women's team claimed six titles, led by Kate Allery and Lizzy Boyle, each with two wins. Allery claimed both diving events, winning the one-meter dive by over 55 points (288.43) and the three-meter dive by over 40 points (260.47). Lizzy Boyle won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:00.42 and the 50-yard freestyle in 24.97. Christen Dexter claimed the 100-yard breaststoke in 1:08.34. The other Minutewomen victory came from Diana Alberti in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:10.14.
