AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts senior diver Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) was named the Division I Women's Diver of the Week by the Eastern College Athletic Conference for the week ending Feb. 23. Allery received this honor after winning both the 11 dive 3-meter and the 1-meter diving competitions at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships Feb. 20-22.
En route to winning the 3-meter, Allery set a school record with 468.60 points, a total high enough to qualify her for the NCAA regionals. Allery came back on the next day of competition and won the 1-meter title, posting a score of 270.40.
Allery's efforts earned her the honor of Most Outstanding Diver of the Meet, and was later named Most Outstanding Diver of the Year in the Atlantic 10. The senior was also selected to the All-Conference team.
This is the second time Allery has been named the ECAC Women's Diver of the Week. She previously received the honor on Feb. 12 when she was acknowledged for breaking the UMass record in the 1-meter dive with a total of 288.43 points against Boston College on Feb. 8.
