AMHERST, Mass. -- Massachusetts senior diver Kate Allery (South Hadley, Mass.) and sophomore Dylan Smith (Timmonium, Md.) were named the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Performers of the Week for the week ending Feb. 9.
Allery earned the conference honor after she set a new school record in the 1-meter dive against Boston College on Feb. 8 with 288.43 points, topping the record (287.02) she previously set last season. Allery's score ranks her first in the Atlantic 10 in the 1-meter dive. Allery also won the 3-meter dive against Boston College, tallying 260.47 points.
This is Allery's second conference honor this season. She was also named the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming and Diving Performer of the Week on Jan. 20.
Smith tallied two victories over Boston College on Feb. 8, winning both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly at 51.68 and 1:54.42, respectively. Smith's time in the 100-yard butterfly was his best effort of the season.
Both the men's and women's swimming and diving teams will next compete on Feb. 20-22 at the Atlantic 10 Championships in Buffalo, N.Y.
